440,000 small firms at risk due to late payments
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) are calling on the government for urgent intervention to improve the methods in which firms are paid. This is because of a "late payment crisis" which could risk the future of over 440,000 small businesses.
Firms are often forced to pay their own bills on time, but tend to unfairly suffer when it comes to their own invoices being paid.
More than 400,000 small businesses have already closed since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic for different reasons, but without action, a similar number could also be forced to close due to this reason alone.
