Brexit 'Increased Costs, Paperwork And Delays'

MPs have said that "increased costs, paperwork and border delays" due to Brexit have affected UK firms.

Leaving the EU has had an impact on UK trade volumes and it has also been warned that this could get worse this year when new import controls come into place.

The government has said that they will continue to ensure UK businesses receive "the support they need to trade effectively with Europe."

To distinguish the impact of Brexit from Covid and wider global problems has been difficult, but it was "clear that the EU exit has had an impact" on UK trade volumes, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) said.

Some business owners have said that they haven't yet seen the new opportunities they'd hoped for after Brexit and worry that clients in the EU will stop taking their products if problems continue.
