Covid19: UK Isolation period cut to 5 days
Sajid Javid has announced that the Covid19 self-isolation period will be cut to five days.
New data found that around two-thirds of positive cases are no longer infectious after this time. From Monday, people in isolation with Covid can take two negative tests and leave isolation on day six.
The changes come after businesses face a surge of staff shortages and customer cancellations. The United States made the move to cut the isolation period earlier, leaving the UK government under pressure to follow.
