Following the COP26 summit, Small Business Britain and Oxford Brookes Business School have launched a new sustainability skills programme to help small business owners achieve their environmental ambitions.
Small businesses represent 99% of UK business and 50% of the UK's business emissions, meaning that they can largely contribute in aiding the UK meet its target of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050.
The new programme has been created due to their joint research discovered small firms were motivated to reduce their carbon emissions but were facing obstacles, such as finance limitations and time.
The free, short course has been developed to overcome the challenges small firms face, and help business owners to begin the process and grow their confidence. The aim is to increase awareness around sustainability and provide practical insights to realise green growth opportunities.
