Small Businesses Want Government Support To Go Green

Around one in four SMEs see environmental challenges as the biggest concern for their business this year, causing an increased number of calls for government funding (87%).

Over a third of customers are influenced by what UK businesses are doing for the environment and their employees.

Sustainability challenges are the second biggest concern amongst small business owners, behind coronavirus restrictions hitting again. This is down to several factors, including policy changes to the environment and customer concerns around sustainability of products/processes.

Many feel the government should offer more financial support to assist them to go green as this will help to give them a competitive advantage and brand image. 

Here are the plans SMEs have to make their business more sustainable, despite missing financial support:

  • Using local and sustainable materials
  • Fuel-efficient workplaces
  • Automatic lights and insulations
  • Reducing the amount of waste they produce
